Chown Origins

I started a group on Facebook called “The United Chowns of Facebook” a while ago. Some of the members have very interesting ideas about the origin of our surname! Check it out:

It is from the French for Cabbage, or “chou”, and is of Normand Origin.
Spellings for the name eventually morphed into “Chowne”, “Chown”, “Chan”, “Chowning”, and “Channing” as the family spread across Europe.

Michael Carl Chown was born August 2nd to proud parents Noel and Carlene. He weighs in at 5 lb, 11 oz. I’m an uncle again! Mom and baby are doing well!
