I stumbled on this the other day and I’m already using it LOTS. Its www.joost.com. You install a client and it streams TV programs to your computer! I have my computer hooked to my tv, so its just like having access to a tonne of extra channels. I’m particularly fond of the National Geographic channel.

Ubuntu (Linux)

This past weekend I installed and configured Linux for the first time. My friend wanted a free operating system and Ubuntu was suggested by another friend of his.

I am very impressed with the operating system. I did have one problem with the install, namely, getting his wireless modem to work. I finally found a wrapper program that allows Ubuntu to use the Windows driver for the modem. After finding that, it worked like a gem.

Another wonderful add-on for Ubuntu is Wine. Its a Windows Emulator. Yes, you can run some Windows software on Linux! I installed Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and he says it loads faster and runs better than it ever did on Windows!

I highly recommend Ubuntu for anyone looking for a free operating system, or anyone that just wants something different! Check out the interface below. Click on it for fullsize.

McAfee Site Advisor

Ever search for something on Google, click on one of the search results and end up at a site that has installed crap on your machine or been otherwise undesirable? Try McAfee Site Advisor! I installed it and I love it already. It works with all the major search engines. Once you’ve installed it, you have to go into its options to make it highlight your search results. Stumbler

I’ve been using this software for a long time and I still find it addictive. Its called Stumbler. It runs as an addon to Firefox. You click it, and it takes you to a random website that other people have recommended. You can then say you either like or dislike the site and it will learn what your tastes are! I LOVE IT! Check it out!
